After the 2015 campaign ended with around 300,000 birds counted, we returned to count location to continue sampling.
With the forecast of moderate winds Northwest for today (11/22/2015), me, Håkan, Pedro Ramalho and João Tomás we arranged to count during the morning period.
The wind in the early morning was weak and the passage was slow, but as time progressed, the wind began to increase and with it the number of birds passing.
Clearly migration remains active as well, especially in Auks. The highlight were the views of small focks of Puffins, which generally are difficult to observe from land in the Portuguese coast.
Puffin – 48
Razorbill – 58
Great skua – 51
Gannet – 1176
Grey phalarope – 6
Mediterranean gull – 13
Common gull – 1 (scarce in Portugal)
